We’re excited that you are considering Fig for your unsecured personal loan. We thought it might be helpful to provide a quick checklist before submitting your application.
When applying for your Fig loan, we compare and verify your information using three different sources:
Your Fig partner account
Your bank account
Your Canadian government-issued photo ID
Before applying, it is useful to validate the following information across all three sources to make sure that it accurately reflects your personal details.
Name
Ensure your full name as it appears on your photo ID is used for both your Fig partner account and your bank account. A short form, or abbreviated name will not be accepted if it is different than what appears on your ID. ie. use Jonathan not Jon, use Jacqueline not Jackie.
If your name appears differently on your partner account than your photo ID, contact the partner from which you're applying directly for further support.
Address
Confirm that your residential address appears as expected, including your postal code. If your mailing address is different from your residential address, please contact us after signing up and we can make any updates for you!
Date of Birth
While we don’t expect your date of birth to change, it is within the realm of possibility it could be printed or entered incorrectly somewhere, never hurts to double-check!
Income
We are required to collect your income information during the loan qualification process and it never hurts to double-check that you are providing the most accurate information possible. Make sure you are entering the correct, full amount, as this could impact the loan offer you qualify for!
Bank Login
We always recommend that you connect the bank account that you use most often, and in which you receive your payroll.
We have partnered with industry leaders in secure bank linking Flinks, to allow Fig to connect your bank account for the disbursement of your loan, as well as payments to be made into your online bank account. While a very large number of banks are supported, it is possible that Flinks may not yet support your bank, in this case, you may need to use an alternative account. If you don’t have one, please contact us and we would be happy to chat about options.
This process will ask you to login to your online banking account, and choose the account you’d like to link to your application. Once your application is complete, the account funds will arrive within 5 business days to the selected account.
ID Documents
We have also partnered with an industry leader in identity verification Berbix, to allow you to verify your identity during the application process, without ever having to visit a branch!
Berbix’s process requires you to submit photos of your ID as well as photos of yourself, we have compiled a quick list of tips to help with the photo taking process:
Follow the prompts on screen, all instructions are provided on screen, and any issues with the photo will be displayed as well
Be sure your lighting is good, too much direct overhead light could cause glare on your identification documents
Place your ID flat on a dark background and hold your camera as still as possible
Review your photos carefully for any blurriness, any blur will impact our ability to verify your submitted photos. You can retake any photos that may not have come out as expected.
